Primary data storage in Canada
Primary account and wellness records — including conversation history, journal entries, mood data and check-ins — are stored on MongoDB Atlas servers in Montreal, Quebec (ca-central-1 region), encrypted at rest with AES-256.
Cross-border processing — plain language
Some service providers that PsychPal relies on — including OpenAI (AI processing), Stripe (payments), Twilio (safety SMS), Meta (aggregate analytics) and Google (email) — operate primarily in the United States. When your data is processed by these providers, it is protected by Data Processing Agreements that require a level of protection comparable to Canadian law.

Privacy legislation
PsychPal is committed to complying with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). The Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard your personal and health-related information.
PsychPal does not claim to be 'PIPEDA certified' — no such certification exists. Compliance is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time designation.
